About the Journal
The Monatsschrift für Kriminologie und Strafrechtsreform is a forum for research and criminal policy in the fields of crime and crime control within German speaking countries. It covers the entire spectrum of disciplines that contribute to criminological research: psychology, sociology, psychiatry, law, politics, economics, education, history, medicine and forensic sciences. The broad scope of the journal is further demonstrated by the composition of its advisory board members. The publication intends to keep its readers informed of current criminological findings and policy developments. In general, the articles are published in German, though some articles and special issues from abroad are in English.
The Monatsschrift celebrated a century of publication in 2004. Since 2006, the journal publishes peer-reviewed articles. This change meets a necessary pre-condition for the admission of the Monatsschrift to the »Social Sciences Citation Index«. The prospective inclusion in the Citation Index will facilitate a comparative review of the publication and the articles therein within the broader international scientific community.
The website www.mschrkrim.de is constantly being updated to meet the ever expanding requirements of the journal, and contains, for example, instructions to authors, abstracts of all articles, links to complete articles which are already available electronically and – in the near future – a search function enabling users to access all issues as far back as 1998.
The Monatsschrift will continue to comprise six issues each year. Furthermore, once a year a »focal point issue« will be arranged by (a) guest editor(s).
