[Legal foundations and Interventions in Connection with Stalking - A Review]

Summary
This review presents the legal basis for the different forms of interventions regarding stalkers. Stalking includes various forms of inappropriate patterns of behavior against a specific person. It is a relatively common phenomenon often resulting in violent acts.
The anti-stalking laws of the U.S. are currently unknown to the German and Swiss judiciary system, where stalkers can only be punished indirectly by applying the existing possibilities within the civil law or by prosecuting the violation of court orders. However, at least in Germany, a specific anti-stalking law will be introduced in 2007.
Professional anti-stalking police-units are an exception in the German language area. Taking the results of various victim surveys into consideration, possibilities and limits of such laws are discussed.
Stalking is a complex phenomenon requiring professional risk-assessment. For setting up and adopting measures capable of reducing the risk of escalation toward violent behavior interdisciplinary collaboration seems indicated.

Die Trainierbarkeit von Empathie bei Erwachsenen

Summary
Rational risk assessment of re-offending should be based on scientifically funded psychological diagnostics, ratings of treatment success, and of treatment possibilities. In this context the theoretical construct of empathy is identified as an elementary concept.
Cognitive-behavioural treatment programmes are examined which contain modules designed for training of victim empathy. It is doubted that this aim can be achieved in every case, contraindications of such programmes are named.

[Right Extremist Prison Inmates – A Review]

Summary
In the last decades right-wing extremism has been explored by numerous studies and has been accompanied by controversial public debates. However, until now right-wing extremism and xenophobic violence in the context of the penal system has not played a significant role in socio-scientific research. The following review presents the scientific literature on right-wing extremism and right extremist detainees within the German penal system. The focus is especially on right extremist violent offenders in detention centres.
